Mirage III C tank, period 1960 - 1970
Auxiliary tank tip made of polished aerospace alloy. Originating from one of the 95 examples of the Mirage III C fighter-bomber, interception version of the French Air Force that allowed flying at the time at Mach 2, or 2 times the speed of sound.
The only French aircraft of the post-war era to enter the global aviation legend.
In 1961, the first Mirage III C of the “Cigognes” Fighter Squadron landed on the runway in Dijon. Then in 1962, four fighter squadrons, equipped with Mirage III C, ensured permanent alert over national territory.
